“To see//a perfect specimen/look haunted,//strange, off her game,/is awesome.”– Rebecca Farivar in new issue of ILK

I love things rubbing against each other, bodies, like in Dirty Dancing, sure, that’s wild fantastic fun, and stories yes, like my friend Erik’s tweet about a family member trying to convince him they started a fire by rubbing two Doritos together, that’s all like WOW HOW, though of course duh that didn’t happen, but also metaphor and jitters, two things bumping, object and idea, two things existing, memory and feeling, two things bettering, an emotion and a person, two things startling.

That’s how Rebecca Farivar unfolds these poems, rubbing the tactics and pieces and sparks we got together, until they untangle into these glorious sounds.
